On August 21, 2024, an investor filed a lawsuit against GoDaddy Inc. alleging violations of securities laws. The complaint alleges that the defendants made false and/or misleading statements and/or failed to disclose material information regarding the company's go-to-market strategy for high-intent customers.

Specifically, the complaint alleges that the defendants failed to disclose that GoDaddy had implemented promotional discounts on .com domains that were likely to result in shorter-term contracts with lower valuations, potentially reducing total bookings and slowing booking growth in the fourth quarter and full year of 2025.

Additionally, the complaint alleges that, despite telling investors that the company's strategy "isn't to grow customers just for the sake of growing customers" and that "[w]e've seen the average order size go up," GoDaddy implemented promotions that allegedly contradicted those statements by emphasizing short-term contracts with lower valuations. According to the complaint, these practices led to a decrease in total bookings and a slowdown in booking growth in the fourth quarter and full year of 2025.
