Alabama Power's storm team and crews are ready to respond as the state prepares for the first hurricane of the 2026 season, Hurricane Isaias. Crews are being staged and will be ready to respond in affected areas after the storm passes.

"Preparation is one of the most important parts of storm response," said Scott Moore, senior vice president of Power Delivery for Alabama Power. "Our teams train and plan for events like this throughout the year, and that preparation gives us the flexibility to make informed decisions and adapt as the forecast and potential impacts become clearer."

Alabama Power is adjusting work schedules, positioning crews and equipment, and making sure additional resources are ready to go where they're needed. Our teams prepare for storms like this well before the first rain drops arrive. That gives us the ability to begin responding as safely and quickly as conditions allow if outages occur.

What We Are Doing to Prepare

We know many of our customers are watching Hurricane Isaias closely and making preparations for their families and homes.

The storm is expected to approach the northern Gulf Coast Friday night, and a hurricane warning is now in effect along the Alabama coast.

More than 5,700 additional resources from 25 states are coming in to help, and we're positioning crews, equipment and teams where they'll be ready to get to work as quickly and safely as possible if outages occur.

What Customers Can Do to Prepare

We encourage our customers to stay weather aware, follow guidance from local officials, have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, and make sure phones and other essential devices are charged.

Customers can stay connected with us throughout the storm. Visit OutageMap.AlabamaPower.com to see outages by county, ZIP code, city or municipality and follow live weather radar. Customers can also follow us on social media for storm updates from the field.

If your power goes out, let us know. You can report an outage at AlabamaPower.com, through the Alabama Power mobile app or by calling 800-888-2726. This is also a good time to make sure you have an online account set up and know your login information to make reporting outages easier.

Above all, put safety first. Stay away from downed or hanging power lines and never attempt to remove limbs or debris that may be touching electrical equipment.

Weather Aware: Hurricane Isaias Information
